Top Things to Do This March

By David O'Brien, About.com

Spring is almost here and that means warmer days ahead in St. Louis. There are plenty of ways to get out and enjoy the sunshine and rising temperatures. Take in a St. Patrick’s Day parade or two, take the kids on an Easter egg hunt or join the fun at the Cardinals Season Opener. And, if winter lingers a bit longer, there's plenty to do indoors too. Here's the list of best bets for March events and activities in St. Louis.

March is a great time to visit the Butterfly House in Faust Park. Every Saturday this month, workers will release more than 1,000 Blue Morpho Butterflies inside the giant conservatory. It's truly a dazzling site, and makes a wonderful event for the kids or even a Saturday afternoon date!

St. Patrick's Day Parades

St. Louis shows off its Irish pride with two St. Patrick's Day parades. The 39th annual Downtown Parade is Saturday, March 15. More than 250,000 visitors are expected to line the streets to see floats, marching bands and giant balloons. Then on Monday, March 17, the crowds will head to Dogtown. The Ancient Order of Hibernians Parade is always a big draw in St. Louis' infamous Irish neighborhood.

Cardinals Opening Day

It's almost time to play ball in St. Louis! The Cardinals return to Busch Stadium for an Opening Day game against the Colorado Rockies. If you don't already have tickets, you're out of luck, but you can still join in the pep rallies and parties before and after the game. I'll have much more about the Cardinals 2008 season later this month.
Opening Day is March 31
