Sip Coffee with the Locals

Murdoch Perk

Now that we have a little shopping under our belts, backtrack half of a block to Murdoch Perk, where we can grab a cup of coffee, a cold beverage or one of its 15 fresh smoothies. Murdoch Perk opened in 2006 and was an instant hit with its neighbors.

Co-owner Stephanie Seemiller lives just around the corner. She saw the need for a casual gathering place where locals and visitors alike can sit and talk over a good cup of coffee or a casual meal. Murdoch Perk is certainly that. The interior’s brick walls, comfy chairs and small fireplace create an inviting atmosphere that’s more genuine than some of the shop’s national competitors. During good weather, there’s an equally comfortable patio out back.

While you’re enjoying your beverage, take a few minutes to look at the art exhibited along the shop’s main walls. Every month Murdoch Perk features the work of a local painter or photographer. And, if something really catches your attention, most of what’s displayed is for sale and is usually reasonably priced.

Before you leave, grab one of the take-home paper menus. You’ll want to come back another time for breakfast, lunch or dessert. Many of the dishes are made with crepes so it’s a great place to come and get something a little different than a traditional sandwich.
