There is so much to do in St. Louis in the summer and much of it is free. You can hear some great live music without spending any money. Here's information on free concerts in St. Louis in summer 2013. Live on the Levee is now officially called Celebrate St. Louis Summer Concerts. It's held at Soldiers Memorial, instead of the riverfront. This year, there will be two weekends of free music featuring Josh Turner, The Urge, K'Naan and Needtobreathe.
July 12 & 13, 19 & 20
Bring a blanket or lawn chair to the north lawn of the Missouri History Museum for performances by Dr. Zhivegas, Marquise Knox and more. Concerts start at 6 p.m. and last for about two hours.
May 7 - 28
Free concerts on the second and fourth Fridays of the month at the outdoor plaza at Ferguson Citywalk. Performers include Nikko Smith, Jeanne Trevor and Fire Dog.
May 18 - October 11
Free Friday night concerts at the Schnuck Family Plaza at the St. Louis Zoo. Concerts feature local and nationally known musicians like Groove Thang, GalaxyRed and Hudson & the Hoo Doo Cats.
May 24 - August 30 (No concert on June 21)
Outdoor concerts held each Wednesday night in the beautiful setting of the Missouri Botanical Garden. Musicians this year include Kim Massie and the Funky Butt Brass Band. Garden admission is free after 5 p.m. The concerts start at 7:30 p.m.
June 5 - August 7
Bring your blanket or lawn chair to Ryan Hummert Memorial Park in Maplewood for free concerts on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Performers include Bob Kuban and Javier Mendoza. The concerts begin at 6 p.m.
May 22, June 26, July 24, August 28 and September 25
The City of Chesterfield hosts free concerts on Tuesdays at 7 p.m., in Faust Park. Popular local musicians like Bob Kuban, Spectrum and Billy Peek are scheduled to perform.
June 4 - August 13
Free music from a variety of local artists on select Thursdays in Kirkwood. Concerts begin at 6:30 p.m., at the Station Plaza across from Kirkwood City Hall.
June - September
Enjoy free music along the banks of the Mississippi River in Grafton, Illinois. Concerts are Thursdays at 7 p.m., at Grove Memorial Park.
June 6 - August 8
The Alton Muny Band plays free concerts on Thursdays and Sundays during the summer. Thursday concerts are at Riverview Park at 8 p.m. Sunday concerts are at Haskell Park at 7 p.m.
