The St. Louis Zoo celebrates the holiday season with Wild Lights. The annual Christmas light display is a fun way for families to enjoy the beauty and spirit of the season.

Dates and Times:

Wild Lights opens each year after Thanksgiving and closes at the end of December. In 2013, Wild lights is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from November 29 to December 15, then nightly from December 20 to 30 (closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). The display is open from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The last tickets are sold at 8:15 p.m. See Pictures of Wild Lights

Admission Fees:

Wild Lights is one of the few events at the Zoo that charges an admission fee. Tickets are $5 for the general public and $4 for Zoo memebers. Children younger than two get in free. You can order tickets in advance online or by calling (314) 646-4771. There is a $10 minimum for advance purchases. Free parking is available at the Zoo's south lot. The north lot and Living World entrance are not open during Wild Lights.

The St. Louis Zoo is located in Forest Park, just north of Highway 40. To get to the south lot, take the Hampton Avenue exit and go north to the first roundabout. Go left at the roundabout onto Wells Drive. The entrance to the south lot will be along Wells Drive to the left.

What You'll See:

During Wild Lights, the Zoo is decorated with hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights to create a winter wonderland. You can see decorated penguins and a fantasy butterfly garden. There's also a snowfall walk and gingerbread village decked out in colorful lights. Popular exhibits like the Penguin and Puffin Coast and the Insectarium are also open.

More Than Lights:

When you visit Wild Lights, be sure to save some time to see more than just the lights. There are kid-friendly activities like puppet shows, crafts and storytelling by the fire. The Conservation Carousel is also open (weather permitting) and offering rides for $3.

The Lakeside Cafe is open during Wild Lights serving hot chocolate, snacks and light meals. And if you want to do a little holiday shopping, visit any of the Zoo's gift shops for 10% off your purchase. Zoo members get a 20% discount.
