Celebration of Lights in O'Fallon, Missouri

For many people in St. Charles County, the holiday season means a visit to the Celebration of Lights in O'Fallon, Missouri. The drive-through Christmas light display at Fort Zumwalt Park is a top destination for residents and visitors alike.

Dates and Times:

Celebration of Lights opens every year the Friday after Thanksgiving and closes in late December. In 2013, Celebration of Lights is open from Friday, November 29 to Monday, December 30. Monday nights are for train rides only, and the display is closed completely on Christmas Day. Celebration of Lights is open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with extended hours until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Admission Fees:

The cost to drive through the display is: $9 for cars, $15 for commercial vans and $25 & up for buses. There are discounts available to save a bit of money. On Tuesdays, all non-commercial vehicles get in to the display for $7. On other nights, get $1 off the price of admission for donating a canned food item.

Train, Carriage & Sleigh Rides:

Most people drive through the Celebration of Lights, but there are other ways to enjoy the display. Visitors can ride a train, carriage or sleigh through the lights. Train rides are available on Mondays only and cost $7 for adults and $5 for children. Segway rides are $30 a person. Carriage rides range from $10 a person for a community carriage to $175 for a large private wagon. Sleigh rides cost $100 for groups of up to 25 people. Advanced reservations are required and can be made online.

Walk-Through Night:

Every year, there is a special walk-through night at the Celebration of Lights. In 2013, walk-through night is Tuesday, December 10, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. For $2 per person, visitors can walk among the Christmas lights and listen to holiday music. There are also food and gift booths, a visit from Santa and fireworks.

Getting There:

Celebration of Lights is located at Fort Zumwalt Park in O'Fallon, Missouri. To get there, take I-70 to the Highway K exit (217) and go south to the South Outer Road (Veterans Memorial Parkway). Go west on the South Outer Road to the park entrance.

From Highway 40/I-64, take the Highway K exit and go north to the South Outer Road. Go west on the South Outer Road to the park entrance.
