Sure you're always nice to your mother. But Mother's Day is the one day of the year when it's good to do a little something extra. In 2012, Mother's Day is on Sunday, May 13. 1. Missouri Botanical Garden

Treat your mom to lunch among the beautiful flowers and exotic landscapes of the Missouri Botanical Garden. The cost is $27.95 for adults, $13.95 for children 5 to 12, and children age 4 and younger eat for free. Seatings are at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

2. The Boathouse in Forest Park

The Boathouse in Forest Park is one of the best places in St. Louis for outdoor dining. The restaurant is serving a special brunch on Mother's Day. After your meal, you can take a leisurely boat ride on Post-Dispatch Lake or visit any of the other top attractions in Forest Park.

3. Mount Pleasant Winery

It's worth the drive to Augusta, in St. Charles County, for Mother's Day brunch at Mount Pleasant Winery. The gourmet menu features breaded pork chops with baked apples, a smoked salmon platter, fresh fruits, salads and a selection of desserts. Seatings are at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The cost is $40 for adults and $15 for children 12 and younger. After the meal, mom can relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the afternoon.

4. Eckert's Orchards

If your mom is more a fan of home cooking, then head to the Country Restaurant at Eckert's Orchards in Belleville. The restaurant has a special Mother's Day menu the whole family can enjoy. You'll also find all kinds of flowering plants and other gifts for Mom at Eckert's.

5. Ritz-Carlton

The Ritz-Carlton in Clayton is serving up a gourmet brunch for Mom. The Mother's Day menu includes prime rib, cured and smoked salmon, caviar, omlets, salads, desserts and more. Brunch is $82 for adults and $41 for children younger than 12.

6. St. Louis Zoo

Treat Mom to brunch at one of the area's most popular attrations. The St. Louis Zoo offers a brunch of breakfast fare, salads, cheeses, chicken, pasta, desserts and more. Seatings are at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., at the Living World. The price is $23 for adults and $11 for children ages 2 to 11.

7. The Coronado

Mother's Day is another chance to enjoy a fine dining experience at the Coronado Ballroom. The Ballroom is a top venue for private events, but its Mother's Day Brunch is open to the public. And this is definitely the place to go if you have a sweet tooth. Brunch is served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $52 for adults and $22 for children.

8. Chase Park Plaza

The Chase is offering Mother's Day Brunch at Eau Bistro and the Starlight Roof. Both locations offer salads, seafood, breakfast favorites, fruit, desserts and more. Brunch at the Eau Bisto is $48 for adults and $20 for children ages 5 to 12. Brunch at the Starlight Roof also includes live entertainment. Prices are $65 for adults and $20 for children ages 5 to 12.

9. Bixby's

Bixby's at the Missouri History Museum is serving up a Champagne Brunch for Mom on Mother's Day. The menu includes omlets, smoked salmon, beef tenderloin and assorted cakes and desserts. Seatings are at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. The cost is $32 for adults and $15 for children.
