Guide Review - Absolutli Goosed

Absolutli Goosed is one of my favorite bars to take out-of-town guests, especially if they’re from a bigger city and I want to prove how diverse and cosmopolitan St. Louis can be. Rich red painted walls, soft lighting and jazz music create an atmosphere that’s immediately inviting. But the atmosphere is also quite playful and even a bit naughty. The menu is no exception. Dozens of martinis with names such as Porky Pig in Leather, Dixie Normous and Godiva Down showcase not only AG’s creative approach to mixology, but also its naughty side.

Once you stop snickering at the names, don’t be afraid to ask your server for suggestions. Both the wait staff and bartenders are well-practiced at picking out the right drink to match your mood and tastes. Ranging from about $5 to $8, the drinks aren’t cheap, but prices stay within what you'd expect to pay for a good martini or cocktail. Especially considering bartenders don’t skimp on the ingredients and certainly not the presentation. Each round of drinks will bring oohs and ahhs as your table takes on a whole new color scheme.

If you’re hungry or just want to nibble, there’s a short list of appetizers and desserts. Appetizers include simple selections such as baked brie or mini pizzas, while a cheesecake or the Triple Chocolate Devastation are great options for dessert. My recommendation is to stop in for a cocktail before heading off to dinner at one of South Grand’s many great ethnic restaurants. Of course there’s no reason you can’t drop in again after dinner for dessert, or at least a chocolate flavored martini.
