Mardi Gras celebrations are already underway in Soulard. This coming weekend, the neighborhood is gearing up for the Family Winter Carnival in Soulard Market Park at 8th and Lafayette Streets. The kid-friendly event includes arts and crafts, interactive games and special appearances by Fredbird and the Rally Squirrel. Many of the activities are held in a large, heated tent so everyone will be comfortable despite the cold weather. The Family Winter Carnival also features food, drinks and a children's parade through the streets of Soulard. The Family Winter Carnival is Saturday, January 28, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
