I really like our neighborhood in south St. Louis. It's close to some great parks where my boys love to play. We particularly enjoy going to the playgrounds at Francis Park and Lindenwood Park. Both provide clean, safe environments for the kids.
The other day my wife took our sons to play at Christy Park on South Kingshighway. She says she won't be going back. The playground equipment was dirty and the swings were all tangled. But the biggest concern was the amount of litter, including broken beer bottles, in and around the play area. It's just not a good place for children to play. I know St. Louis City workers have a lot of parks to maintain, but I would hope they'd spend a little more time making sure play areas are safe for children. It wouldn't take much TLC to make Christy Park a good option for local families.

I am very sorry to hear this about Christy Park. Christy Park was named for William Tandy Christy, son of Ambrose C. Christy and Mary Bush. The parents of Ambrose were Julius Christy and Agatha Barnett. One of their other sons, James Christy, was my 4th great grandfather. So, William Tandy Christy was his nephew. I am sure that the city of St. Louis named the park after him out of respect. I hope that they will clean up Christy Park, so that children of St. Louis will have a clean, safe place to play.
