The weather this weekend is supposed to be very "un-August-like" with a high temperature on Sunday of only 77 degrees. That makes it a great weekend to get out and enjoy some of the happenings around St. Louis. I'm taking my family to the Festival of Nations in Tower Grove Park, but there are also other events I suggest checking out.
LOT Music Festival - The parking lot at the Schlafly Tap Room will be crowded with musicians, artists, food vendors and more. The LOT Music Festival is a free outdoor event featuring top area bands. There's also a mini craft fair, artist demonstrations, games, food and plenty of Schlafly beer. The festival is Saturday, August 29, from 2 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Alton Block Party - You'll also find free live music in Alton this weekend at the town's Block Party along Third Street between Piasa and State Streets. It all begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 29. The party includes children's activities, an appearance by the Budweiser Clydesdales, music from the Glendale Riders and food from local restaurants.
Race for the Rivers - Kayakers and canoeists will be paddling the Missouri River this weekend in the 3rd annual Race for the Rivers. On Saturday, August 29, everyone is invited to join the racers for a festival in Frontier Park in St. Charles. The Race for the Rivers Festival features a children's play area, food, music and a custom canoe and kayak show. It runs from noon until 7 p.m. Admission is free.
