Live Music After Fair St. Louis

Thursday July 2, 2009

A lot of people hesitate to come down to Fair St. Louis because they don't want to fight the traffic after the fireworks are done. What my friends and I have done in years past is to park south of the Arch grounds, and then when the fireworks are over, head down to one of the local clubs or bars featuring live music that night. A quick look at a few of the clubs just south of the fair shows there's some good music to be had both on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4. Here's a quick list of just some of the venues and the acts performing there this weekend.

The Old Rock House
1200 South 7th Avenue
Friday: Paint the Earth - 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Saturday: That 80's Band - 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

BB's Jazz, Blues and Soups
700 South Broadway
Friday: Skeet Roger & Inner City Blues Band - 10:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
Saturday: Ivas John Blues Band - 10:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.

Beale on Broadway
701 S. Broadway
Friday: Roland Johnson Soul Endeavor - 10:00 p.m. to ?
Saturday: Eric "Guitar" Davis - 10:00 p.m. to ?

Broadway Oyster Bar
736 S Broadway
Friday: The Feed - 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Saturday: JOBU - 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Of course there are a ton of other venues, especially as you head a bit further south into Soulard. And of course, Washington Avenue, which is also brimming with entertainment options, is just a few blocks to the northwest of the Arch Grounds. Have a fun 4th of July Weekend!
