You'll Find Energy Saving Ideas at the 2009 'Green' Homes Tour
More St. Louisans are going green to save money and help protect the environment. On Saturday, June 20, you can see some of the best environmentally-friendly homes in the area at the 2009 'Green' Homes Tour. A soy-diesel fueled tour bus will take you to local homes that have earned green certification or have a wide variety of sustainable features. The cost of the bus tour is $20 per person and includes lunch. Tickets are available online or at the Garden Gate Shop at the Missouri Botanical Garden. The tour begins at noon at the EarthWays Center at 3617 Grandel Square in midtown St. Louis.
There is also a free self-guided tour of six new homes built with energy efficient materials and construction practices. For more information or to download at tour map, visit the St. Louis Home Builders Association's Green Homes website.

It’s great that new homes are going green but people can do this with current homes also. Installing a geothermal system is one example. There are also tax credits available that make it very affordable.
