FINALLY!!! these live on the levee people get a good band to play….maybe this st. louis summer concert fest won’t be such a joke if they keep branching out, or get better music taste on the part of the promoters…..screw the counting crows and train….no one of any musical substance actually likes them anyway…..more bands like SONIC YOUTH should be on the bill every year!!!!!!!!

FINALLY!!! these live on the levee people get a good band to play….maybe this st. louis summer concert fest won’t be such a joke if they keep branching out, or get better music taste on the part of the promoters…..forget hootie and the counting crows and train….no one of any musical substance actually likes them anyway…..more bands like SONIC YOUTH should be on the bill every year!!!!!!!! the Breeders, the Pixies, Bjork, the Cure, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Beastie Boys….get a clue people….no one wants to see the same bands every year, and by NO means is st. louis filled with country music listeners anymore…..keep ‘em coming and your Live on the Levee might actually get some notoriety!

(9) Sarah says:

Well, last year I was SUPER excited about Umphrey’s McGee, and there were a lot of people to see them! So, I think more bands of the jam band veriaty would be awesome!

June 21, 2009 at 12:09 am
(10) Bob says:

Greg, are you retarded? or just slow? You like the same bands as a 9 year old.

June 21, 2009 at 12:12 am
(11) David says:

Last year I was at Live off the Levee about four times. I saw Umphrey’s Mcgee and STS-9, then I came and saw OAR, and then I got to see one of my favorite bands of all time One Republic!! This year is awful and I think I’m going to come once, maybe twice if I just feel the need to get out there.

June 24, 2009 at 10:00 pm
(13) Lloyd says:

Greg,St. Louis has a lot of country music listeners. I would expect that kind of comment from someone who voted for NOBAMA.

June 28, 2009 at 10:42 pm
(15) jeff says:

where are the black artist?

July 1, 2009 at 11:22 am
(16) MW says:

How interesting that the bands don’t represent the population of our city. I am all for attracting people outside of St. Louis, however, this says that AA artists aren’t represented at all. Also, at least one country artist should have been represented. Once again, the STL lacks diveresity in all that it does.

July 1, 2009 at 2:43 pm
(17) jeremy says:

r u people stupid? no AA artist? how about Lupe Fiasco? and no country artist? how about Gretchen Wilson. Get a brain

July 1, 2009 at 9:59 pm
(18) Leslie says:

I want Edwin McCain to come back to the Levee!!!!

July 1, 2009 at 11:17 pm
(19) Linda says:

They certainly catered to the younger generation this year, they should realize there are a lot of older people that go to the fair that would like to hear the music they like, like some r&b or some blues

July 3, 2009 at 9:50 am
(20) Laura says:

hmm…..I though GRETCHEN WILSON was Country, do you not know your own favorite genre of music??????

July 3, 2009 at 1:02 pm
(21) tracy says:

Counting Crows put on a great live show. they entertain the crowd. instead of insulting them, go out and see them live. then decide.

July 3, 2009 at 1:09 pm
(22) rebecca says:

July 3, 2009 at 2:31 pm
(23) Mary Redman says:

OMG!!! The Naked Brothers Band.. My daughter is gonna flip out tomorrow and FOR FREE!!!! cant beat that.. AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

July 5, 2009 at 10:28 pm
(24) c-styles says:

i like Angie Stone and can do some Lupe but you still need more r&b or neo-soul artist

July 6, 2009 at 3:29 pm
(25) Balou 20 says:

Yes I agree a last year was much better but it seems like thet did try to cover several types of music. Maybe they should take some type of poll to see what artists people want to see. I am not a big fan of Lupe but glad to see there are still some Afican American artists on the line up still.

July 12, 2009 at 3:16 pm
(26) justin says:

its great to see how intelligent and insightful most of these comments are. St louis you never cease to amaze me. nobama, are you kidding, what does that have to do with anything…or is that the only arguement you can muster. lupe fiasco is black, gretchen wilson is country, ill be seeing sonic youth and lupe fiasco which is more than i can say for the 0 bands i wanted to see last year. Its a pretty diverse lineup that will draw a variety of music fans…isn’t that the point?

July 15, 2009 at 10:15 pm
(27) Eugene says:

Hey! Stop bickering for a second, would ya? The Sonic Youth seem to be controversial– you either love them or hate them. Let’s forget about it. HOW CROWDED WAS IT LAST YEAR? That may seem like a stupid question since it’s a free concert, but I’m just wondering how early I would need to get there if I want to see anything at all. WHEN DO THE STANDS START FILLING UP FOR THIS SHINDIG, USUALLY? Anybody?

July 17, 2009 at 6:33 pm
(28) Jock says:

The band Live was great a couple years ago. Want them back. Didn’t go last year, but friends went and loved it.Also enjoyed counting crows at the amp several years ago. For the Live show we weren’t super early and were right on the street at stage level. Lots of people who came after us walked even closer. Not crowded, full. That’s when it was on the levee, not off the levee.

(29) you444 says:

I think You all should just be thankful that our city even puts on free concerts! Its a great idea and every concert I go to, no matter the artist, is packed. So apperently people like the artists that are chosen. If you dont like some, realize that maybe a lot of other people do. Just be thankful. St.Louis has so many free atractions, most cities dont!

July 27, 2009 at 4:37 pm
(30) Penny says:

I WAS AT THE GRETCHEN WILSON CONCERT! ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND ALL THE PICS THEY TOOK! I WAS IN A BUNCH OF THEM AND HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANY
