Local Festivals Celebrate Irish and Italian Culture

Tuesday September 16, 2008

Whether you're in the mood for a cold Guinness or a hot plate of pasta, there's a festival for you this weekend. Collinsville is hosting its 25th annual Italian Fest, while St. Charles is celebrating all things Irish.

Italian Fest
You certainly don't have to be Italian to enjoy all of the food and fun at the Collinsville Italian Fest. The festival features cooking contests, wine tasting, a bocce ball tournament and a parade for the kids. There's also live entertainment on three stages and a craft fair.
September 19 & 20
Main Street, Collinsville

Missouri River Irish Fest
Why an Irish Festival in September you ask? Because it's half way to St. Patrick's Day! The Missouri River Irish Fest is three days filled with music, dancing and storytelling. There are also Celtic games and Irish arts and crafts, plus plenty of food (and Guinness).
September 19 - 21
Frontier Park, St. Charles
