Meet the Eagles in Alton

Thursday January 3, 2008

In January, try wintering in balmy Alton, Illinois. At least that's what hundreds of bald eagles do every year. Why not get out and welcome them back? For an up close introduction, check out the bald eagle Meet & Greets every Saturday in January. Workers from the World Bird Sanctuary will have an eagle at the Alton Visitors Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., each Saturday starting January 5. Stop by and learn about the eagles, then head out to see some of the hundreds of birds that winter along the Mississippi River. The Alton Visitors Center is located at 200 Piasa Street.

This is fantastic. I go see the Eagles every year – they are amazing! This year I will be sharing my tradition with my niece and hopefully she will enjoy them as well. Bundle up when you go, the river makes it quite cold.
