Overpass, Interchange Reopening Along Highway 40

Thursday October 18, 2007

Starting this weekend, it will get a little easier for you to drive to the St. Louis Zoo and Forest Park. Crews working on the Highway 40 project will reopen the Tamm Avenue overpass on Saturday, October 20th at 1 p.m. For the last six months, drivers have had to take another route into the park while workers tore down and rebuilt the bridge.

In another bit of good news for drivers, one of the new interchange ramps at Highway 40 and I-170 will open on Monday. Transportation officials say the ramp from westbound 40 to northbound 170 will open sometime Monday morning. These two projects are just a small part of the massive Highway 40 reconstruction plan. There are still a lot of traffic headaches ahead for drivers, including the complete shutdown of the highway next year. Here is more information on how to survive the Hwy 40 shutdown.
